Boris F. Ochoa-Tocachi

Boris F. Ochoa-Tocachi holds a PhD (PhD) in Civil and Environmental Engineering, an MSc (Master’s) in Hydrology and Water Resources Management, from Imperial College London, United Kingdom, and a Civil Engineer from the University of Cuenca, Ecuador. He is the CEO (Executive Director) of ATUK Strategic Consulting, Founder of the Institute for Research Applied to Sustainability (iiasur), and is scientific advisor to the Natural Infrastructure for Water Security project. Boris has developed his professional and academic experience around the hydrology of mountain ecosystems, hydrological monitoring and management of ecosystem services. In the last five years, he has published more than 25 scientific articles and policy briefs, contributed to more than 70 presentations at conferences, seminars, and workshops, and received 10 awards and recognitions. Boris is currently researching how to combine ancient knowledge and nature-based solutions with traditional hydrological engineering to solve problems related to national and global water security.
